Research
My research and teaching interests are in nonprofit
finance and management, performance measurement, research methods in public and nonprofit
administration, and PA education. My doctoral dissertation, entitled
“Impact of Government Funding on
Nonprofit Revenue Strategies and Organizational Performance,” empirically
investigates the network relationship among key variables including government
funding, nonprofit resource strategies, and nonprofit organizational
performance. Professor Marc
Holzer is my dissertation chair.

Personal
I was born in Suzhou, China. This beautiful ancient city is also my
husband’s hometown. We like traveling
and enjoy every (well, almost every…) moment we share with our wonderful baby.
I studied playing Guqin (古琴), a
traditional Chinese instrument, also called seven-string zither, for a short
while. I would like to recommend some of
my favorite Gupin pieces: Pu’An’s
Mantra (普庵咒), Wild Geese Hovering over the
Sands (平沙落雁), Wolong’s Lament (卧龙吟), and Recalling
an Old Friend (忆故人).
My interests in nonprofit management research and related topics
originated from my volunteer experience with the Amity Foundation when I was a
graduate student at Nanjing University in China. I worked in Amity’s Social Welfare Dept. and
Disaster Relief Dept. for about two and half years, helping mostly with program
administration, as interpreter and translator, and program field trips.
